Lavender Essential Oil is derived from the pretty purple flower tops of lavender plants and is easily recognized by its floral, fresh, and sweet aroma. It not only smells great but also provides many other benefits to the user. From chest congestion to skin relief, this lovely smelling fragrance is versatile in many ways and is a great addition to your goat milk soap.

Lavender is known to be very calming and relaxing. This is because lavender is an adaptogen, which means it contains a 'normalizing effect' which counteracts disturbances brought about by stressors. As such, it is a useful tool and may help with difficulty sleeping, anxiety, stress, nervous tension, emotional stress and even mild cases of depression. The relaxing components of Lavender oil are known to possibly alleviate the all too common tension headache so many of us are familiar with.

Chest and sinus congestion can also be relieved with steam therapy using Lavender Essential oil. Lavender Essential Oil molecules are hydrophobic (water repelling) and can loosen mucus and congestion while providing light antiseptic relief as it penetrates into your system to remove the bacteria causing the congestion.

The benefit of Lavender Essential Oil for your skin was allegedly discovered by accident way back in 1920 when the French Scientist René Gattefossé was severely burned in a laboratory explosion. A fellow scientist was nearby with what he thought was a vat of water so he plunged his arm into the vat. The vat contained a mixture containing Lavender and within moments, the burning decreased and, with continual applications, the burn healed completely - without a trace of scar. Much of the information we have today is credited to further studies done by René Gattefossé and many sunburn relief products contain Lavender because of how well it comforts burns and speeds the healing process.

Because of its antiseptic and antifungal properties, Lavender Essential Oil may help alleviate acne, psoriasis, skin inflammations and even wrinkles. It can be a safe and pleasant way to keep pesky mosquitoes away and some have even used Lavender Essential Oil in the treatment of head lice and nits.

Essential oils are very strong and should never be ingested or used undiluted on your skin. We are very careful with your goat milk soap to use an amount that is beneficial, but safe for your skin. Allergic reactions to lavender essential oil are very rare, but particularly if you have hay fever, plant based or pollen and grass type allergies, watch for any reaction when using lavender products.
